Food Writing: Cassava Flan Cravings
Every weekends was a rest day for every students and I was one of them, if there are times that I have a free time to do something I wanted, that is cooking. I feel like I was hungry after the exhausting of washing my clothes and uniform. So I decided to cook. At first, I only knew how to fry a food like turon, egg with bread, fried rice with fried siomai and other foods that I can cook or fry for my meryenda that satisfies my cravings. Until, I randomly watched on tiktok on how to cook cassava flan using camote, I watch her do that so I can get an idea on how to do it. So since we have camote, I decided to try on how to do it. First, I grated the camote, and add sugar and evaporated milk on it, then mixed it, after that I put it to a laniera with caramelized sugar and last put it to a steamer. It was almost cake like ,the caramelize sugar on top gives sweetness to the cassava flan, it was not perfect yet, but when I taste it, it was still delicious. So everytime that we have camote, I practice on how to cook cassava flan until I master it. The only thing that makes it hard is it takes time to cook, but it is worth it. Also, through that camote flan I cook, I want to learn more other recipe.
